Temperatures will hit highs of 21 degrees in the southeast today, but spells of patchy rain and drizzle will dampen any summer plans.

Some drier and brighter intervals are expected to develop through the day, especially in parts of Connacht and Ulster.

Temperatures will range from 15 degrees in the northwest to 21 degrees in the southeast, dropping to lows between 10 to 15 degrees during a night of light, scattered showers.

Met Éireann has forecast a largely mixed day on Wednesday, expected cloud, sunshine and showers with patchy drizzle and mist near the south coast.

Highest temperatures of 17 to 22 degrees are expected, dropping to lows of nine to 13 degrees overnight when heavy spells of rain could spread across the country, though will clear by midnight.

The outlook for the coming days shows “often breezy, mixed and, at times, unsettled” conditions with temperatures “generally near and above average”, the forecaster said.

Another breezy day with sunny spells and passing showers is expected on Thursday, with temperatures ranging from 15 to 18 degrees and lows of 10 to 14 degrees overnight.

A damp and unseasonably windy night is forecast for Friday with further outbreaks of rain and drizzle, possibly turning heavy at times as temperatures hit highs of 17 to 20 degrees.

Current indications for Saturday suggest a mainly dry and sunny day with “just the chance of a few showers”, according to the current forecast from Met Éireann.

Highest temperatures are expected to range between 16 and 21 degrees.

The outlook for the rest of the weekend is “still uncertain”, but there will “potentially be more cloud and rain spreading from the Atlantic, with the best chance of drier and more settled conditions in the east and southeast”, forecasters said.
