Kerry gardaí say they are investigating the assault of a man in his 60s, which occurred in a car park near the Manor West shopping centre in Tralee.

In what’s being described as a serious incident, the motorist was struck in the face with a bottle of Bailey’s liquor by a man.

In a statement to The Kerryman, gardaí explained that shortly after 7pm on Monday, 16 June, a motorist needed to stop suddenly in what is a no-parking zone outside the centre.

A second man is alleged to have approached the motorist telling him it was illegal to park there. He became angry and hit the driver in the face with the bottle he was carrying, cutting the driver’s mouth.

Gardaí are examining video footage and are asking for members of the public who may have witnessed the incident to come forward.
