Donegal GAA insist that “the welfare of our players was not adequately considered in the decision-making process” after their request to fix this weekend’s All-Ireland SFC quarter-final against Monaghan on Sunday was not accommodated.

That means that Jim McGuinness’ men will travel to Croke Park to face the Farney men on Saturday (4pm throw-in) just six days after hosting Louth in a preliminary All-Ireland quarter-final in Ballybofey.
