Competition watchdog warns schools over soaring uniform costs

Schools have been warned by the State’s competition watchdog that they are increasing costs for parents by insisting on uniform items that can be bought only from a recommended retailer.

The Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC) has written to primary and post-primary schools telling them their demands for uniforms are increasing costs for families.
