From Tuesday, a landmark change in the law will mean every adult is automatically considered an organ donor when they die unless they have opted out while alive.

The “soft opt-out” system is already in place in the UK and other countries. But will it lead to an increase in donor organs for hundreds of people in desperate need of a transplants?
