Beaumont Hospital in Dublin, which is at the centre of an investigation into alleged financial irregularities involving funds to reduce its huge waiting lists, refused yesterday to say if the matter had been referred to gardaí.
It emerged in recent days that public money given to the hospital by the National Treatment Purchase Fund (NTPF) to help cut the backlog of public patients waiting for care is the subject of a HSE audit.
