Unconfirmed sightings of Annie McCarrick and the absence of CCTV at the time of her disappearance effectively skewed the high-profile investigation 32 years ago.

The initial garda investigation was set on a trail to nowhere when a number of witnesses mistakenly believed they had seen the 26 year old American woman.
