Thousands more HSE staff working at weekends among strategies to tackle trolley crisis
More senior staff will be rostered in emergency departments during weekends and public holidays

A breakthrough deal has been reached to reduce the hospital trolley crisis, free up beds and extend routine care for patients as thousands of healthcare staff look set to work over weekends.
The agreement with healthcare unions will see senior consultants and, crucially, other staff, including social workers, administrative employees and therapists, rostered five over seven days.
