Carla Ward leaves ‘exhausted’ Aoife Mannion out of Ireland’s US trip as boss says she asked to be

Carla Ward has stressed she has had to act responsibly with her squad after she revealed that an “exhausted” Aoife Mannion had asked not to be considered for next week’s pair of friendlies against the USA in Denver and Cincinnati.
Mannion was also released by Manchester United this week and, after this month claiming that captain Katie McCabe was on the verge of “burnout” after the captain also withdrew from the squad, the Irish boss expanded on Mannion’s absence.
