We’d been dancing for several hours to favourites like Insomnia by Faithless and Maniac 2000 when we staggered away from the dance floor, exiting the venue with the rest of the red-faced, sweaty crowd.
Some of our group were being uncharacteristically well-behaved… but only because they’d very recently overdone it on another night out and were still living down the shame. We teetered out to where my dad was waiting to pick us up, all hoping we sounded more sober than we were.
