When Noel Edmonds announced six years ago that he was leaving Britain, the broad reaction ranged from indifference to, “Off you go, now, and don’t let the departure gate door hit you in the arse on the way out.”
His days of being all over Saturday night television like a rash were long gone, while Deal or No Deal, the Channel 4 afternoon gameshow that resuscitated his career for a while, had been axed two years earlier.
