Beaumont Hospital in Dublin is being investigated for alleged financial irregularities relating to a special clinic to reduce waiting lists and as a result has had top-up public funding suspended since April, it emerged yesterday.
The top-up public money is given to Beaumont and other hospitals by the National Treatment Purchase Fund (NTPF) but it emerged yesterday that funds for insourcing – extra clinics and procedures to reduce waiting list backlogs which are done in-house – have been paused since April 11 pending an examination by HSE internal auditors.
